about me

Hello, my name’s Sarah!

I’m a Vancouver-based content creator and marketing specialist, experienced in working with small businesses, start-ups, and individual clients.

I am passionate about learning new skills, working on varying projects, and experiencing new cultures. I have had the opportunity to live and work in places including Indonesia, Romania, Thailand, Switzerland, South Korea, the U.S., and Canada. I thrive in fast-paced environments where I can see the impact of my work and grow with dynamic teams. I’m always excited to take on new challenges or roles and meet culturally-diverse, intriguing people!

HUMAN CONNECTIONS

As an Asian-adoptee, I often struggled to “belong”. I was raised in an upper-middle class Caucasian family and neighbourhood, while my looks obviously marked me as ethnically foreign. However, I’m very lucky my parents worked hard to expand my worldview through exciting travel experiences and exposure to new experiences. My parents are the main reason I became highly adaptable, emotionally intelligent, and open to change. I now have close friends from all over the world who have helped me grow and accept that we all have different roads to travel in life. There is no need to belong to one group or try to squeeze yourself into one limiting “box”. I enjoy continuously meeting new people and am very grateful for the special souls who continue to support and inspire me.

LIVING ABROAD, SEEING THE WORLD

I’ve had two periods of living abroad, and I loved it. My first experience living abroad was in the 3rd year of my university degree in International Business, when I studied in Suzhou, China. It ignited my passion for travel and love for Asian cultures. Later in 2019, I had to opportunity to travel to and work in 15 different countries in one year while throwing myself into a fast-paced video production internship. I am forever in awe of my international experiences and hope to continue to see more of the world once we overcome the pandemic. If I could recommend only one thing to anyone, it would be to live abroad or to at least travel solo somewhere for an extended period of time. It really opens up one’s perspective!

GROWING THROUGH DANCE

My time in Seoul, South Korea left a lasting impression on me. It is still probably my favourite place in the world. Although my dance journey began with Salja Dance (my K-pop cover team in Ottawa), I truly fell in love with choreography and taking classes when I started going to 1million dance studio in the Korean capital. Then as I travelled more, I made it a point to take dance classes in as many countries as I could (ex. Singapore, Japan, Romania). Even though I get caught up with work and my dog, I try hard to keep dance a part of my life. I now attend classes at studios throughout Vancouver and intend to continue planning dance events once it’s safe to do so again!

RAISING MY FUR-CHILD, MISO

After exploring the world for a year, I decided I wanted to settle down in a new place, with a new job, and my first dog! Miso came into my life on February 3, 2020 as a tiny little fluff ball. She’s grown into a beautiful, but small, Alaskan Malamute who loves people but is selective with her dog friends. Miso is a huge part of my life. She’s the reason I leave the house at least twice a day. She’s been my constant companion during lockdown. Furthermore, she’s the one who introduced me to some of my closest friends in Vancouver. It’s definitely an adjustment to have to care for a dog, but I wouldn’t trade it for a second.
